Also known as vitamin B9 or folate (the natural form of folic acid). Plays a role in cell division as well as in the breakdown of homocysteine. During pregnancy, increased folic acid intake is recommended to help prevent neural tube defects and other neurological developmental defects.
Folic acid promotes:
• normal immune system function
• normal psychological function
• a reduction in tiredness and fatigue
