This prophylaxis can be continued in the winter months for young children. Vitamin C, vitamin B6 and B12, as well as the trace elements zinc, selenium and copper also contribute to a healthy immune system.  In addition to vitamin D, calcium and zinc play an important role in healthy bone development in children, while iron contributes to normal cognitive development.
